Summary/Abstract: The main goal of this article is to present different points of view on the issue of left-wing authoritarianism and its presence on the political scene as well as considering how the term is utilised in contemporary research on political extremism. It is worth noting that although the question of whether authoritarianism is typical only for one side of the political continuum, or whether it is present on both sides of the political spectrum, has been a widely discussed issue for some time, it seems worth reconsidering, especially in the context of Eastern European countries.
