Summary/Abstract: The protection of cultural heritage in times of armed conflict is one of the main topics that require a continuous approach from international law. The nature of contemporary conflicts, especially those in Iraq and Syria, shows us that cultural goods often become the target of belligerent parties. However, the armed conflicts in question are characterized by the participation of various groups, including terrorists, among the objectives of which are the robbery and the commercialization of cultural assets illegally raised from the controlled territories.
