Summary/Abstract: Neohumanist model of university postulates connecting educational and research functions, but also forming students’ personalities. On the one hand, it is directed at creating orientation toward gaining competences and reaching excellence in the vocational and research spheres (among both students and academicians); on the other hand, it aims to support personal development, including orientation towards others. The aim of the presented questionnaire study was to present the self-perceptions of teaching profession candidates (students), who, due to their selected future profession, are required to have both agentic and communal orientations. The questionnaires were selected with regard to the measurement of agency (concentration on self) and communion (concentration on others). The results are discussed in context of tasks and priorities of contemporary university, philosophical theories and values which are foundations of the model of gaining and sharing knowledge in an academic context.
