Summary/Abstract: The present paper Contemporaneous traditional traders – the last hatters from Saliste, Sibiu County is a presentation of the hatter’s traders situation from Saliste. Its purpose is to demonstrate, based on fieldwork, that trader’s production and the trades are still present in Sibiu area and are treasured as “family heritage”. The first hatter trader we present is Virgil Ilies – the oldest member of the family – who considers that “the hat is part of our identity”. That’s why he has taught his son this beautiful and interesting trade. Presently, Radu Ilies – Dadarlat keeps on with “manufacturing” authentic hats, which have consecrated his father as a “living human treasure”.
