Summary/Abstract: Hydrobiological research of the macrosoobenthos of the Brka River were performed at three localities during the spring and summer of 2017. Macroinvertebrate biodiversity is represented by nine groups and 13 taxons. Analyzing the composition of the macrofauna, the largest taxon diversity was found in the Trichoptera group, followed by the groups with a smaller number of taxons: Coleoptera, Diptera, Odonata, Plecoptera, Ephemeroptera, Oligochaet, Hirudine, and Crustacea. Different sites of taxons were found at the investigated parts of the river, at the site of Rasljani - 8, the site of Maoca - 4 and the site of Brod - 6. Based on the saprobability index, it was determined that the Brka River has a beta-mesosaprobic credit rating and is considered to be second quality class water, that is, waters that are exposed to anthropogenic influence.
