Summary/Abstract: By this text about one of the most prominent alim (scholars) of his time Mehmed Handžić, we want to remind of the 110th anniversary of his birth. During his very short thirty-eight-years-life (1906-1944) he made a great contribution by working as a teacher in Gazi Husrev-bey madrasa, the Higher Islamic Shari'ah-theological school, as a librarian in Gazi Husrev-bey library and as the founder of the association "El-Hidaje ", as well as editor of the newspaper El-Hidaje. He left rich opus that includes Islamic themes, themes of cultural history, about spread of Islam, literary history etc. In his enlightening ideas he kept on the affirmation of traditional values of Islam and oposing to negative modernity.
