Summary/Abstract: Local and foreign researchers analyze academic achievement from several aspects, such as the return of tuition fees, social mobility, status increase. In the effectiveness studies, mobile students should be considered. Transborder students are most likely to choose Hungary for further education. A popular opportunity for them is to apply to the Balassi Institute’s university preparatory training course. As a central question, I will investigate the factors influencing the motivation for selecting a higher educational institution of Transcarpathian young people, as well as impacting their life career aspirations. I will also examine the peculiarities of differences between the Ukrainian and the Hungarian educational systems. According to our results the Balassi Institute’s university preparatory training course successfully contributes to the admission of Hungarian students from Transcarpathia to Hungarian higher education institutions.
