Summary/Abstract: God’s Mercy and King David’s Spiritual Renewal. The purpose of this study is to show the importance of God's mercy in the process of spiritual rehabilitation of King David, a king who committed serious crimes in front of God. We tried to show all this by referring to the text of the 50th psalm. So, in order to do this, we took into consideration the historical context of the facts described in this penitential psalm. After the brief description of these historical details, we presented the way how the psalmist accuses himself, throughout some consecutive confessions, of making the crimes he made. Why is he doing this? Because he wants to point out the steps he made for his rehabilitation. During this part of the study, we brought into attention the reasons that determined David to choose the unconditional begging for mercy and we described the steps he followed for regaining the state of communion with God. The conclusions of our work, give the reader the possibility of understanding the important role of mercy in the rehabilitation of the human soul.
