Summary/Abstract: The 9/11 events have placed intelligence issues on the forefront of public and international affairs. Intelligence communities are facing a double challenge: on the one hand, the globalization environment, the current context of increased uncertainty and a changed perception of security risks, and, on the other hand, the national debate on this topic and the internal priority of reform promotion. Nowadays, the major reason of, worldwide intelligence and security services is that of offering timely and anticipative assessments in order to defend and promote the national interest. The presence of a new type of threats, besides terrorism and organized crime, strains intelligence services to cope with new challenges, in order to provide the political and military decision-makers with the intelligence products needed to counter these threats.
