Summary/Abstract: The eighth edition of the National Symposium Dimitrie Ghika – Comănești. In memoriam, started on the 4th of August 2018 in the same picturesque and historic location, the palace of Dimitrie Ghika’s family, nowadays the Art and Ethnography Museum Dimitrie Ghika, in Comănești, Bacau County, Romania. The event, dedicated to the Great Union and its impact upon the cultural, scientific and social evolution of the Romanian people, was organized by Romanian Committee for History and Philosophy of Science and Techniques from Romanian Academy (CRIFTS), Dimitrie Ghika‑Comănești Cultural and Scientific Association (NGO), Dimitrie Ghika High School, Europe Direct Valea Trotușului Comănești and Comăneşti Town Hall. Every year, the event becomes more and more interesting and attractive, not only by the variety of the works presented, but also due to the participation of important people of Romanian science, culture and art. Personalities from the university and pre‑university domain, researchers, curators, officials, citizens of the city, joined the event. Together with the symposium there were some other activities going on: book presentation, Nicolae Moghior, Ferdinad I, Maya Kistinne Malec, art exhibitions, Rebeca Yin, piano performance, all sitting under the sign of rediscovery and promotion of the national and local values, traditions and customs.
