LUCIAN COSTIN, FOUNDER OF ‘THE LITERARY BANAT’ PUBLICATION

Summary/Abstract: The scholar Lucian Costin (1887-1951), the penname of Io(a)n Gheorghe Costiniuc (some documents mentioning the surname of Costeniuc or Costinescu) is acknowledged as the founder and the owner of the literary magazine ‘The Literary Banat’. The publication issued between 1934 and 1938, in Timișoara, Lugoj, Craiova, Bucharest and Caransebeș and included various articles of literary criticism, prose, monographs, verses, essays, studies, epigrams, chronicles and notes on of those times. The study highlights the activity of Lucian Costin for ‘The Literary Banat’ magazine, emphasizing the fact that his articles and studies had contributed to a better knowledge of the Romanian cultural area.
