Summary/Abstract: In present-day reality, the changing conditions of the lives of listeners create a challenge for the preacher whose mission is to reach his listeners effectively with the word of God. There is no doubt that in the process of communication with a particular person, it is important to properly prepare the homiletic text. Therefore, it is always necessary to be faithful to the texts of the Holy Bible present in the Liturgy of the Word and to master the ability to read them properly. For this purpose prayer and meditation of the individual biblical texts is of service. It is advisable that the preacher “carry” in himself the word of God and share it with the faithful during pastoral encounters. In a homily, considered as a preaching message, the quality of the relationship between the preacher and the listener plays an important role. It is extremely important in preaching a homily to take into account the existential situation of the listener. The preacher must remember that he should be understood by the recipients of the homiletic message. Therefore, he should continuously develop and improve his ability to observe their response. Thus he will have not only the opportunity to master homiletic skills to a greater extent, but also significantly increase the effectiveness of his preaching ministry.
