Summary/Abstract: The architectural project has started 11 years ago in a historical monument house – Petre P. Carp manor, confiscated in 1949 and retroceded as ruin. The recovery of this property was based on finding ways for creative recycling, a change of functionality from a residence into a research center for traditional professions and architecture. This is how the project “Strike the iron at the manor”! started, which is the name of a continuous free smithery for the locals from Ţibăneşti (Iaşi), a range of workshops for traditional crafts and experimental techniques associated with the Carp Manor and a collection of objects created in this context. How can a deteriorated historical monument be used? How can it be reintegrated in the community life? What keeps things going there? How does one solve the problem of proximities? Which are the heritage policies that can be rendered from this case study and used in other situations? How does one create stable economic circuits? How can the new generations be educated regarding the heritage problem? When, how and what are we salvaging? Why and for what? In what form? How can one communicate about workmanship, how can one retell the story to the new generations? Here are some of the concerns of the revival project, led by the architects Şerban Sturdza and Alexandra Mihailciuc.
