Summary/Abstract: „I would not change poor Moldova for first-throne the world,” said in Luneville, France, Mihail Kogălniceanu, who is considered, rightly, „a true son of the XIX century”. Mihail Kogălniceanu (b. September 6, 1817, Iasi – d. June 20, 1891, Paris) politician, journalist, writer, „brain” of the Romanian Principalities Union.Fascinating personality of the modern era, passionate spirit, Mihail Kogălniceanu stands out among the most talented representatives of the forty-eighth generation actively contributing in the fight for the Union of Romanian Principalities. It came to light a series of precious texts and generally all his literary,historical, parliamentary oratory and diplomatic activity as a great statesman, a work consistently progressive, an exemplary dedication for the community and the welfare of all classes and social sections. In particular can be highlighted his constant interest and concern for the emancipation of the peasant class, for its removal from under the domination of nobles, monasteries and all landowners, to create a decent living conditions for it.
