Summary/Abstract: This article aims at analyzing both the right to life as well as the right to self-determination in the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights. Since the European Convention acknowledges every person’s right to life, without actually defining the terms ”person” and “life,” we have tried to capture the Court’s view on the matter of whether an unborn child has the right to life. In opposition to the fundamental right to life, we have depicted some aspects regarding euthanasia and assisted suicide, seen as prerogatives of a person’s right to self-determination.
