Summary/Abstract: The legislation of the European Union and its court decisions are increasingly concerned with the question of the financial consumer protection, since its significance is increasing because of the economic crisis. The crisis has increased concern about the financial regulatory problems, including the questions of the consumer protection. The study examines how does the united sentencing policy of the European Union helps to practice higher protection for the consumers and how does it affect the sentencing policy of the member states. In consideration of the member countries, the study examines further the Hungarian sentencing policy.
