Summary/Abstract: The European Union's budget finances numerous programs and projects that improve the lives of citizens in the EU and beyond. Inappropriate use of funds from the EU budget or evasion of taxes, duties and other amounts owed to the EU budget directly affects citizens and damages the entire European project. Attacks on European policies by criminals and fraudsters do not only negatively affect the Union's budget but also its credibility. Thus, taking into account the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, in particular Article 86, the European Commission's proposal, the notifications from several countries of the Union, in which they expressed their wish to establish a strengthened cooperation for the establishment of the European Prosecutor's Office, on 12 October 2017 the European Parliament approved the setting up of the European Prosecutor's Office. This EU body will investigate, prosecute and prosecute the perpetrators of offenses affecting the financial interests of the Union and their accomplices. In this respect, EPPO will carry out investigations, carry out criminal prosecution and exercise public action in the competent courts of the Member States, pending completion of the case.
