Summary/Abstract: The article traces the emergence and dissemination of the new Church Slavonic service dedicated to the Holy Brothers, which emerged in Russia in the beginning of the 60's of the 19th century. The text has been reissued and revised many times and that is why it deserves a more thorough textological study. At the same time we see that the new work created in the Church in a national spirit, a work that embodies the literary and theological tradition and that receives from it the fundamental Christian and pan-Orthodox spirit, is the bearer of different views and ideas linked with social and political issues of a temporary and local nature. That is why it often needs essential changes when used liturgically today by various Orthodox Slavonic churches.
