Summary/Abstract: My research is concerned with a statistical method that has recently become widespread in the international literature, although in Hungary it is present only in few researches. This method is geographically weighted regression (GWR), the use of which is demonstrated through an example of its application. GWR is a local model which is founded on regressional basis, prominently taking into consideration the geographical distance. Since it does not calculate the global relations of the whole data but concentrates on the relationship of the dependent and independent variables locally within a determined search area it makes possible consideration of the spatially varying processes. Basically, the GWR is a kind of developed version of the global regression model since with the use of it we may take into account the local features remaining hidded by the global approach.
