Regional Characteristics of Foreign Students Arriving in Hungary

Summary/Abstract: In terms of the regional distribution of foreign students we pointed out that Budapest and Pest county account for a major part of them, while the micro-regions along the border for a smaller part. Budapest is a main destination for learning purpose migrants accounting for the majority of non-European citizens. According to the analysis of the sending areas of foreign students we can highlight, that most of the students arrived from Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and Slovakia in Hungary. We pointed out that migrants from the border areas of neighbouring countries, against those arriving from elsewhere, prefer the border areas in the other side of the border to settle down.
