Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present and discuss the potential of different measures of speaking and conversational activity in Second Language teaching from the perspective of Applied Linguistics Research. He focuses his attention on the two types of oral evaluation: quantitative and qualitative, widely used in studies on first language acquisition and, to a lesser extent, in Second Language Acquisition.
