Summary/Abstract: One of the basic principles on which the European Union bases is respect for human rights and the dignity of the human person. This is an extremely extensive subject, nevertheless still extremely important from the point of view of the ruling elite as well as the entire society. This article present a system of human rights protection in the EU. First of all, treaty guarantees aimed at ensuring the protection of fundamental rights will be discussed, as well as the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and functioning of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency with its registered office in Vienna. Based on them, an analysis of the level of EU involvement in the protection of these rights will be made, their promotion not only on the territory of the Member States, and facts will be verified, which should be understood as the real actions taken by the EU to achieve its objectives.
