The academic thought in Romanian dentistry development from the first half of the twentieth - century

Summary/Abstract: The article describes the historical moments Romanian Dentistry went through, from a practical, empirical, craft to an academic profession and medical science. Obstacles, which had to be surmounted as well as personalities that brought a decisive contribution to the recognition of Dentistry as component of medical science and profession are described in the text. The facts belonged to the first half of the XXth century. All historical dates are shown in the national and international context of the academic development of the specialty, of that time.
