Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the hockey terminology as used in Canadian English. Many examples given in the paper illustrate both literal and metaphorical use of the word and expressions containing the word hockey. The authors refer briefly to socio- logical and psychological aspect of sports games and hockey which has entered many walks of life in Canada.
