Summary/Abstract: We can speak about a double syntactical relation between the constituents of a complex sentence. They are placed as a determinative and as a determinate in such a sentence.Syntactically speaking, the subject belongs to the general category of the nominal constituents which includes both the Nominal Group and its equivalents, among which we can count the infinitive constructions. The nominal characteristics of the infinitive allow it to exercise the syntactical functions typical of the name: subject or predicative element. In this article we want to emphasize the characteristics of the infinitive as a syntactical constituent, especially the case when it is related to an impersonal verb. Our approach is a contrastive one: French and Romanian. Here, we have tried to identify those things that French and Romanian have in common as well as those elements which make French differ from Romanian.
