Creation of a Database of Historical Sources from the Second Half of the 16th Century to the First Half of the 19th Century

Summary/Abstract: Title: Creation of a Database of Historical Sources from the Second Half of the 16th Century to the First Half of the 19th Century for the Geoinformation System of the Kazan Region. Summary: The article sums up the initial stage of creation of a resource-based database from the materials of the second half of the 16th century to the first half of the 19th century for the further development of a model of the three-dimensional structure of the Kazan region in the late 16th and the 17th centuries. It is proved that a geographical basis for the geoinformation system of the Western Zakamye (which made up the major part of the Kazan District) may be formed by nine maps of the Kazan Province, three maps of the Kazan District, and plans of individual settlements. When carrying out a tridimensional analysis, one should use formalized data from both medieval archeological sites and a whole range of cadastres, “field” books, censuses, patrol books, and plat books of the Kazan District.
