Summary/Abstract: In the past models of a women’s role were influenced by many various social, cultural and political factors, as well as by ideologies and philosophic trends. This article presents women’s roles in the Polish school handbooks of sexual education for the grammar and high schools, in the period 1961–2001. The contents of the school handbooks draws some models of a woman’s sexuality and women’s place in the marital and family life and in bringing up children. The following models may be shown: partnership, sexual emancipation, permissive and traditional model. After the Second World War the crucial factor that influenced the model of a woman was the spread of the Marxism, populating the ideas of men’s and women’s equality. Another women’s roles model emphasis ideas of partnership, individualism and rejection a traditional ethic in a sexual behaviour. The permissive model belongs to radical ones in the contemporary sexual education. It relates to individualism, relativism and freely sexual behaviour. The traditional model, which based on based on the personalism philosophy and Christian tradition, it is opposite of permissive one. This model is shown through it’s philosophic and anthropologic background where the most important values are dignity and freedom of a human being but motherhood is the most important thing in woman’s life.
