Summary/Abstract: The author advances a thesis that the notion of environment is an important cognitive category in social pedagogy. Theoretical contemplations on this category and empirical studies of both classic and modern pedagogy scholars indicate the deceptiveness of the discussion over environmental pedagogy as an independent sub-discipline of pedagogy.
