REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC PROTECTION OF COPYRIGHTS IN THE EU

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to review in historical perspective the regulations for protection of intellectual property and in particular copyright and the related rights and to perform a critical analysis of the financial and economic methods for valuation of intellectual property assets as well as to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the EU regulations for protection of intellectual property and copyright and related rights. To these ends the author has performed a theoretical study of the regulatory framework in the field of copyright and related rights in the European Union and in Bulgaria; a conceptual review of the standard approaches for financial and economic valuation of intellectual property assets and analysis of their merits and demerits in terms of their feasibility and accuracy related to valuation of intellectual property and copyrights assets.
