Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the development of translating Russian children’s books into Slovak in the 20th century regarding the representativeness of the translated books in the source culture. Several have even become the classics of children’s reading for Slovak children. After the year 1989 the situation has radically changed and translating of Russian children’s books almost does not exist. The lack of translators from Russian is one of the reasons.
