Lost in time castles

Summary/Abstract: This study includes some information about three castles situated over the Trotuș Valley. First of them presented is the Castle Dofteana, which was built in romantic style by an Italian architect.He was brought here by Neculai N. Ghika who has a big desire (like the entire family of lord owners, Ghika) to build an imposing residence which will resist through the years, no matter what. Their amibition and their attempts for realizing it are written in the castles’ history. Castle Știrbei was built in 1914, with three years before he died using Nicolae Ghika Budești’s plans. He worked with some Italian skilled entrepreneurs. Castle Ghika Comănești from our town was built by Albert Galleron, an important French architect who impressed the society by his way to perceive the world. He always used the eclectic style, sometimes combined with other architectural influents. Those castles are the immortal testimony of a local history, of a story which had been forgotten for a long period of time…
