Summary/Abstract: In the current security environment, terrorism manifests as one of the threats against the national security of several states, including some that until recently did not have to deal with this issue. Despite all the measures implemented on a local, regional or global scale to combat Islamic terrorism, it continues to remain a relevant challenge. Islamic terrorism resilience is grounded on a series of factors, such as: globalization, the decentralized structure of Salafi-Jihadi militant groups, the spread of the extremist ideology and the competition for popular support. Moreover, Islamic terrorist organizations are in a continuous adaptation process and exhibit a high capacity to identify and exploit vulnerable territories and populations.
