Summary/Abstract: This article is dedicated to historical development of the Bulgarian environmental legislation. There are three periods in this development: 1878-1944, 1944-1989 and after 1990. They are characterized by their peculiarities. In the conclusion, more general conclusions were drawn from the legal regulation considered.
