Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to present the importance of the two Romanian explorers, Nicolae and Dimitrie Ghica-Comănești, for the development of science and for our culture. The paper is useful for the young generation, in general, and for those who want to organize expeditions to unknown places outside the country and we thought, that’s why describes, in details, every day of the expedition of Demetrius and Nicholas Ghica‑Comănești. Both books written after this expedition can be considered journals; the first one impresses because of its stylistic accuracy, but the second maybe read as an ethnographic study. Through the diversity of collect‑ed species and the geological descriptions of flora and fauna, the results of their expedition were compared with that achieved, in 1909, by U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, with his son Kermit, in East Africa.
