Summary/Abstract: This study was presented in the Columns Room of Ghika’ s Palace during “The Days of Comanesti Town” (Bacau County, Romania), evolved between the 5th and 7th of August 2011. Dimitrie Ghika – Comăneşti and his son Nicolae, have important contributions in research of the flora and fauna from the Oriental Horn of Africa (the Somalia Peninsula and partially the Plateau of Ethiopia). They were both hunters and explorers, discovering, describing and mapping mountains, plateaus, and rivers,calling them with Romanian names, they brought plants, further described by the botanists as new plants, lions and other animals‘skin, some of them naturalized and preserved at “Grigore Antipa” Museum from Bucharest.Nowadays, they both are placed next to the greatest explorers of the Africa from the nineteenth century.
