Summary/Abstract: Journalists manifest themselves in national media spaces. But while national cultures are a general framework that sets representations, we would like to go beyond the nationally rooted explanations of journalistic practices. Ulrich Beck calls for going beyond the methodological nationalism that puts the nation-state at the center. Inspired by his concept, as well as that of Howard Becker, we argue that journalism evolves within an open, transnational, and cosmopolitan world. National cultures are in constant interaction with each other, making the representations on which journalists rely. Howard Becker explains the professional practices as cooperation, based on conventions allowing the actors to build channels of production. We apply this same principle to the world of information production. This involves tracing the interactions between journalists and local actors included in the production channels in Minsk.
