Summary/Abstract: As the balance of power of the world changed after the Second World War, Turkey did not want to be alone and found it appropriate to cooperate with Western states, especially the United States. This would be possible if Turkey, like all Western states, became democratized. Therefore, İsmet İnönü began to take steps to make the multi-party political life possible. The first to enter through the opening door, namely the first established political party, was the National Development Party. However, this party was not taken seriously despite its identity of being the first opposition party established. It was assumed by the government and the public that it didn't exist. This article is a summary of the unknown democratic journey of the National Development Party, which started the multiparty regime in Turkey after 1945.
