A Multiplicity of Voices: Reportage of Testimony

Summary/Abstract: Darska explores reportages whose form and composition identify them as polyphonic reportages of testimony or reportages of voices. This unique type of reporting inspires her to reflect on the fluidity and contamination of genres, ambiguous classifications as well as issues such as memory, witness accounts, the subjectivity of testimony. The signature of the author – in this case the reporter – forms the context, as it is typical for writers such as Svetlana Alexievich and Jean Hatzfeld. Darska demonstrates how reporters indicate that they opted for the strategy of polyphony and the consequences of this gesture.
