Summary/Abstract: The term "electronic prescribing" is used to describe all aspects of the generation and transmission of prescriptions electronically, using a special system. Typically, the process is identified with primary care, including generating prescriptions from GPs, transmitting prescriptions electronically from them to community pharmacies through national networks, and executing prescriptions at the health facility (pharmacy). Models for electronic prescribing transfer between prescribers (physicians) and dispensers (pharmacists) can be grouped into three basic conceptual solutions: 1. Electronic prescribing using a barcode on a paper form as a tool for transmitting information and identifying the issuer of the recipe. 2. Electronic prescribing, wherein the electronic prescription is the legal document containing information about the prescriber and the prescribed medicines. 3. Electronic prescription using recipes. The choice of a suitable model for the implementation of the concept of electronic prescription should be fully in accordance with the technical features and characteristics of the country system for e-government in Bulgaria. A prerequisite for the transfer of electronic prescriptions in our country is the functioning of the Unified environment for the exchange of electronic documents (UEEED).
