Summary/Abstract: This study refers to theories on the causal relation, a condition of tort civil liability. The content of this material consists of opinions expressed in specialized literature on the theories underlying the identification of the causal relation in general, theories that have emerged during the evolution of society, especially due to its development in relation to the provisions of the new Civil Code. The various theories have determined the permanent change of the national case-law and not only, regarding the method for determining the causal relation between the wrongful act and the damage.
