Summary/Abstract: The present study assumes the role of an introductory study in the sense that it is recommended to be consulted before addressing the status of the victim, the injured person and the civil party in criminal proceedings. The recommendation is based on the importance of distinguishing the role that these three procedural subjects play in the process. Misinterpreting these terms or an inaccuracy of their semantic scope generates inconsistent interpretations with the very reasons of the model of criminal proceedings incorporated in the new legislation. Combining several legislative sources, the study aims to achieve a typology of procedural sequences that lead to the qualification of a person’s status as a victim, then as an injured person and alternatively as a civil party. It is the author’s belief that only by removing unnecessary residues of meaning it is possible to strengthen the effective functioning of the general procedural framework.
