Summary/Abstract: This study discusses the link between fundamental freedoms and democracy, as a form of government. The real power of democracies consist in respect for individual freedom and also in the free acces to the political power for every citizen. The author focuses on the relevant characteristics of the democratic state, which made from human rights and rule of law basic principles of their existence.
