Summary/Abstract: The offered article reports of a research performed in the Black Sea contact zone. Its basic aim is to analyze the general geographical aspects of the inner migration (settlements, leavings, mechanical increase) of the zone, in the towns and in the villages comparing to these for 1986-1988. The territorial range of the zone varies from 1-2 to 2 kilometers from the shore. The zone depends directly on and is functionally connected with the state of the economy. In the middle of the 90s its territory was 6.429 square kilometers and the population amounted to 741 000. The studied zone falls into the category of comparatively high intensity of settlements (20.2%). In comparison with the second half of the 80s one observes here a certain increase of the researched indicator which is the result basically of the bigger number of settlements in the communes of the Varna region. In the researched region the number of settlements is slightly bigger than that of leavings (a mechanical increase of + 0.4%) and with the town population the indicator is a little bit positive while with the village population vaguely negative. This indicates that as a whole one does not observe here a mechanical outgoing tendency of the population thanks to the favour able socioeconomic and natural condititons of life in this part of the country.
