Summary/Abstract: How would you respond if your neighbor’s home were destroyed and they had nowhere to live? In 2010, the number of people forced to flee their homes due to natural disaster was more than double the number from the previous year. There is every reason to expect this trend to continue, raising difficult challenges and dilemmas involving lifestyle, sustainability, birthrates, ecology, demography and morality. As the consequences of global warming confront us, and global climate negotiators meet in South Africa, how will we respond? This article will survey the difficult choices ahead.
