The Influence of the presence of a Military Unit on the Development of a Gmina

Summary/Abstract: Development of particular communities is conditioned by internal and external factors. Military units which are stationed on the territory of communities, influence the specific spheres of inhabitants life, in different ways. Their localization on the territory determines a number of ties with local surrounding. These ties have bilateral character. Military units acquire from local surrounding resources (human, financial, material, information), which are the basis to fulfil their tasks and they transfer public good like safety of citizens and, what is more, they generate other outcomes as a result of uses of resources. The article presents outcomes of research carried out among inhabitants of communities and soldiers of military units, which are located in different regions on the territory of Poland.
