Summary/Abstract: The article outlines the characteristics of the Latin lexical heritage based on Polish and Czech selected exemplifications of the law terms, e.g. administration, code, jurisdiction, jurisprudence etc. It stresses the fact that a lot of loan-words of the ancient origin (especially from Latin) in Polish and Czech language were become domesticated since long ago. The loan-words from Latin language are a heritage of the great tradition of the Roman culture, too (e. g. Roman culture of the law in Europe). The author draws attention to the stylistic differences of the common usage of the selected law terms which are of Latin origin in Polish and Czech language.
