Summary/Abstract: The article aims at an analysis of Mumming. The author examines three different per- formance events that share significant characteristics and function entirely independently of the need for any external support or “agency.” Selected events involve a peregrination around the ter- ritory of the community, which “renews” its existence as both physical entity and social concept.
