Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyze three films: The Idiots by Lars von Trier (1998), Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade (2016) and The Square by Ruben Östlund (2017). On the one hand, these are three stories about three different projects or activities that can be described as performative projects. On the other hand, the perspective of the viewer should also be taken into account in the interpretation. While the theme of films is performance understood as a “genre,” described in the context of the development of theater forms, their impact on the viewer is performative.
