Summary/Abstract: Social exclusion is a multidimensional phenomenon, difficult to define and measure unambiguously. Elderly and disabled people belong to the category of people benefiting from social assistance; they are often excluded or are at risk of social exclusion. The basic institution that helps these people is a social welfare center whose aim is to support the social life of the excluded. The article will discuss selected non-cash benefits for the elderly and the disabled on the example of the Municipal Social Welfare Center in Krakow.
