Summary/Abstract: The main function of the city, namely the defence towards external menaces, has suffered various mutations during historical evolution, being generated by political, economic, and technological factors. The constant adaptation of the defence systems to the diversification of the outside dangers and to the opportunities that entry the city life due to occurrence or dismantling of buildings, activities, and human interests, have generated the metamorphosis of the territory security matrix by relocation or demolition of strategic power points (as the military facilities) and their replacement with non-military uses.
